Privacy Policy

Viska ("we", "our", or "us") is a voice-to-text transcription application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our macOS application.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information Stored Locally on Your Device

The following data is stored locally on your Mac and is NOT transmitted to any server (unless you enable CloudKit sync):

• Transcript History: Text transcriptions from your recordings (saved by default, unless Privacy Mode is enabled).
• Voice Recordings: Audio files saved when you enable "Save recordings to Library" (disabled by default, requires opt-in).
• Notes & Journal: Your written content.
• App Settings: Preferences and configurations.

Privacy Control: You have complete control over local data. You can delete it at any time via Settings. Local data is not backed up to any cloud service unless you explicitly enable CloudKit sync.

1.2 Information You Provide Directly

• Audio Recordings: When you use voice transcription, audio is temporarily captured. It is transmitted to third-party AI providers for processing and immediately deleted. It is not permanently stored on our servers.
• Payment Information: Processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your credit card information.

1.3 Automatically Collected Information

• Usage Data: Anonymous word counts for rate limiting (Free tier).
• Device Information: Device identifier for subscription verification.
• No Tracking: We do not use cookies, web tracking, or collect browsing history.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information strictly to provide the service:

• Core Functionality: Transcribing voice, syncing data (if enabled), and managing subscriptions.
• Service Improvement: Identifying crash bugs and enforcing fair use.

Legal Basis (GDPR): We process data based on Performance of Contract (providing the app) and Legitimate Interest (security, anti-abuse).

3. How We Share Information

We do not sell your data. We share data only with necessary infrastructure providers:

• AI Providers: For cloud transcription. Data is deleted immediately (Zero Data Retention).
• Stripe: For secure payment processing.
• Apple CloudKit: For data sync (encrypted by Apple).

4. Data Retention

• Audio: Deleted immediately (seconds) after processing.
• Transcripts: Stored locally until you delete them.
• Account Data: Retained while subscription is active. Deleted 90 days after cancellation.

5. Your Rights (GDPR)
